The Sunday Miscellanea - Eldritch Moon Prerelease

The Eldritch Moon prerelease weekend at Lake Geneva Games has been going pretty well so far and there is one day left.  I was worried that the Pokemon Go trend would put a damper on it but we've has some good events so far with a couple more taking place today.  The additional game space has served us well for our events the last couple of months.

The 1 pm event is a 2-Headed Giant, which means you play with a partner, one you bring or we can find you a good one on site from among our casual card playing crowd.  Either way, you win just by signing up for $30 per team member ($60 per team), because you get an Eldritch Moon prerelease kit which includes four booster packs of Eldritch Moon, two booster packs of Shadows Over Innistrad, a spindown die with the Eldritch Moon set symbol on it, a two-sided zombie token, and a fine little box (which is very nicely constructed).  Plus, for each round your team wins, should you manage that feat, the team gets two more booster packs of Eldritch Moon.  Win all three rounds and take home a kit plus six extra booster packs.

Finally, at 5:30 pm, we have one final Eldritch Moon sealed event.  It's only $15 and there are two rounds of play.  No additional prizes but, of course, you get your own Eldritch Moon prerelease kit with the aforementioned six booster packs and more.  That's a damned good deal so come on in to Lake Geneva Games today for Eldritch Moon!

Minis & Modeling Monday - D&D, All Natural Arts, & Teri Litorco

Over on merricb.com, as part of his Meric's Musing reviews, Merric Blackman gives us a look and his impressions of "The latest set of WizKids Icons of the Realms miniatures for D&D" here.  Always a treat to read his thought on pre-painted plastic minis as he's been at this quite a long time.

Also, on the All Natural Arts Facebook page (also has a website here), sculptor Sue Beatrice mentioned some tiny weapons she was preparing for a custom order.  She said, "These 18 tiny knives and swords were created using antique and vintage watch parts. The red gems you see are watch rubies. These will all go into a custom piece belonging to a young knife collector on his 18th birthday. Each blade was honed to a sharp edge (can you find the little slice one made on my palm?)"  She also mention that she would unveil that project on Monday, April 25th on the Facebook page here.

Finally, on the Teri Litorco YouTube channel, she has an nifty video showing an "Easy X-Wing Repaint Tutorial: Poe Dameron's T-70."  Of the various Star Wars games that have come out lately, including Armada, X-Wing, and most recently, Rebellion, I've enjoyed them all but X-Wing definitely seems to be that one that crops up on convention and gameday schedules for tourneys.  Enjoy!

Also, on dakkadakka.com, they have a nifty Paint Range Compatibility Chart here.  Note that the Coat d'Arms match the OLD citadel colours so there might be some difference. Shining gold has the most noticeable difference,  Personally, I tend to use Vallejo more than anything else but have used many of these and find them all to be of good quality.  However, I am also the guy who will use less expansive craft paints from Michael's for cheap plastic minis and large pieces of terrain.  I also will stop by a hardware store or paint shop and see if they have inexpensive prices on gallons and quarts of latex paints that have been mis-tinted.  Anything in green and tan, and also black, will go a long way to saving money on a large terrain project and provides a good seal or undercoat.  But this day of blogging is for minis and models, so let's get back to that!

Finally, on metv.com they feature videos so we can "Watch the Smithsonian take apart the original Star Trek Enterprise" here.  These is quite a piece of work and its wonderful to get so close to it in the videos.  It was obviously built with a lot of loving care.
