Since the release of Games Workshop's Citadel Finecast line of products early last year, I have heard conjecture on the various reasons why, some claiming it is a money grab with less expensive materials but most recognizing the excellent detail that can be had using this process. I also stumbled across a YouTube video on MiniwargamerJ's channel about his experience last August when finding that one of his orders included a miscast figure. Check it out!

There's a wonderful video on YouTube that someone pointed out to me showing a table set up with 25,000 1/72 miniatures depicting two and a half divisions of Napolionic figures, The Duke of Wellington's army presented by Bob Fraser. Marvel!

I'm a big fan of the old Tom Jolly game Wiz-War, and I am glad to see that Fantasy Flight Games is coming out with a revamped version of it this year, but if you want a very cool way to make a set for yourself that stands out on the game table, check out what Hirst Arts suggests you do here!

Putting together an army for tabletop gaming can be tough but it can also be fun. If you'd like to make your figures a little more original, don't be afraid to add some bits and pieces. Check out the latest video on YouTube from terrainaholic on how to add some flavor to your "Rat Men" minis here!

YouTube's squidgybridge recently added a video on a "Painted Eldar Falcon Grav Tank" from the Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000 line. While I don't play that game personally, the work on it is so stunning I wanted to share the video here.

YouTube's StormTheCastle.com began producing a video series on "How to Sculpt Fantasy Miniatures" back in December of 2008. I recently linked to the latest on Gegen Hounds but you can check out the full series here. Also, here's that first video from a little over three years ago -

Makerbot Industries recently unvailed the latest in thier line of three dimensional printers called the Makerbot Replicator. It nearly doubles the size of potential 3D output from their earlier model. Making your own minis for your tabletop gaming might still be a bit expensive but this technology can only get better. Their YouTube video tells us more.

The good folks at Grognard.com have assembled a list of 2011 Board Wargames, like the excellent expansions for Eagle Games's Defenders of the Realm (pictured below), a cooperative fantasy game that I tried out last March at Gary Con III, and enjoyed immensely. If you note something as missing, let them know so they can make it more complete. Check it out here!

The developer of a new video game called RayFrakked is trying to gather some playtesters. In his own words, as posted on EN World.org -
I've been looking for betatesters for a computer game I'm developing, RayFrakked. While doing so, it occurred to me where I could find one of the largest bunch of gamers on the net. Gamers that know how to pick apart a game to it's basic rules and make a game designer sob in the corner while rocking gently back an forth. Rayfrakked is a massively single player puzzle game, allowing players to not only play to solve puzzles, but to also make your own puzzles and inflict them on people who might have otherwise been your friends. We're a small publishing house, consisting of... me. One of the things I could really use are people to look over the game, test and comment. If you're interested in helping out, you can email me at email@example.com

There's big news coming from YouTube's ReaperMinisTV channel, as after two years the current host, Mark Theurer, is stepping down. It's been a good run and his reviews have been awesome and informative. Apparently Gus from Reaper will handle things for a bit as they look for a new outside person to take over. If you are capable of making videos and have a penchant for pewter, contact Gus at Reaper ( firstname.lastname@example.org ) to let them know you're interested in trying to jump in. Anyway, here's the most recent video with that information.
Taking a walk down memory lane, here's the first video from December 2009 . . .

The following video is from EFSmick of YouTube and shows a pre-production treant miniature at 28mm scale (next to a smaller figure of the same scale) and the detail really pops. Check out the other videos by that YouTuber for even more looks at minis in production over the last couple years.
