Here's a neat idea for adding some unusual miniatures to your game. Try some origami. And what better way than to start with the old standard jumping frog? Here's a video on how to make them.

A recent EN World thread reminded me that some old school wargames are available free on the web from DwarfStar Games. In particular, EN Worlder Androlphas played some solo games of Barbarian Prince and found out just how challenging those old games can be. Check out what they have on offer and download one or two to give them a try!

I've got a project I am working on that needs some added strength and contemplated using Foam Coat from Hot Wire Foam Factory. However, not everything I plan to cover is foam, as some will be cardboard and some foamboard (with paper) and I want a consistent finish. While I understand there are various additives I can mix with the Foam Coat to improve it's binding ability, the process becomes more costly and the results I've seen while searching the web haven't convinced me it is the right way to go for a mixed-medium project. With that I mind I asked around and a friend pointed me toward Durham's Water Putty, so I'm going to give that a try. Here's a link to a project on wowplanes.com covering foam wings which helped me make the decision to try it. I'll share the results as the project moves forward.

aswexpress.com is having a very good sale on Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Watercolor Standard Brushes which is well worth checking out if you paint minis and like a top notch brush. I often use Dick Blick and they have excellent pricing but this beats that by quite a bit. Good painting to you!

There's a cool YouTube channel called eqnws that I recently discovered that has been reviewing miniatures for a couple of years. Their series Meeples & Miniatures Historical Miniatures Review Show highlights some of the best in what miniatures companies are selling, and not just the big companies. Check out their first show from way back in May of 2009!

Often thought of as one of the simpler types of miniatures to paint, skeletons can have a lot more character and depth if you know some tips and tricks. YouTube's AGProductions channel has a good video on their DVD release from last year detailing the instruction included on their two hour and fifteen minute $10 video ($3 shipping in the USA). It includes eight ways to paint bone and some basing techniques. Take a look at their YouTube video and see if this DVD might be some help. The YouTube video includes a three minute preview from the DVD. Enjoy!
